Review: Shatter Me By Tahereh Mafi

OK, so here goes my first blog post :)

Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

Goodreads Description:

Juliette hasn't touched anyone in exactly 264 days.

The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette's touch is fatal. As long as she doesn't hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don't fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.

The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war-- and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she's exactly what they need right now.

Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.

My Thoughts:
Shatter Me is the most amazing book I've read all year!! The words are written beautifully, and it was very poetic. I've never read a book written like this, and I must say- I LOVE IT!

Seventeen year-old Juliette has always been an outcast; her parents hate her, she never had any friends, and she's been bullied her whole life. They had to lock her in a mental/prision for her own saftey- so she wouldn't kill anyone else. She can kill with the touch of her body (skin). Not that she means to. If anyone touches her, they die.

To make matters worse, the world was falling apart when they sent her away. There are no more government, presidents, food, crops, animals, schools, birds, and the weather is all screwed up . These people called "The Reestablishment" took over, trying to change the world. They divided everthing in to sectors, took everything away (cars, homes, enteratainment, ect.) And anyone trying to stop them has been killed and everything is in choas. One of the sectors' leader, Warner, finds out about Juliette's special ability and wants her.

All she wants in life is to be normal, for people to treat her normal and not to be a monster, but she's starting to think that she is[a monster]- She can kill just by a touch. She soon meets a boy named Adam, who they sent in to be her roomate/cellmate. She knows him from somewhere but can't place it. She discovers secrets, betrayal, love, possibilities, and survival.

Tahereh Mafi just might be my next favorite author and I cannot wait for a sequel. If you haven't picked up this fanastic book yet, do it now, it's a MUST READ!

I Rate This:
